Head Interpreter/Owner:
Margarita Brockhaus
For more than four decades, Margarita Brockhaus has served as a dedicated bilingual medical professional and English/Spanish medical interpreter across diverse healthcare, dental, surgical, administrative, and insurance environments in the San Francisco Bay Area and Inland Northern California. Beginning her career in the mid-1970s, she built a strong foundation in patient care, medical office operations, and cross-cultural communication that has continuously deepened with every role she has held.
From 1977 to 1983, Margarita worked as a Medical Office Administrator, where she coordinated patient interactions, supported Spanish-speaking patients, negotiated with insurance companies, trained staff, and maintained organized medical records. She then advanced into dual roles as Office Administrator and Senior Surgical Technician in an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice from 1983 to 1999. In these positions, she assisted physicians during surgical procedures, managed staff hiring and training, updated case files with precise medical terminology, and provided consistent English/Spanish interpretation to ensure clear communication between providers and patients.
Between 1991 and 2001, Margarita operated as a self-employed Medical Billing Specialist, gaining in-depth expertise in insurance submission, claim evaluation, follow-up, appeals, and regulatory compliance — including navigating complex reimbursement processes and protecting patients from surprise billing issues.
Her tenure at Sutter Health from 1999 to 2008 further strengthened her ability to work effectively with a wide range of medical professionals. This experience significantly enhanced her expertise collaborating with healthcare providers and understanding the operational demands of large medical systems.
Following her time at Sutter Health, Margarita moved on to Crestwood Manor Rehabilitation from 2008 to 2012. Her role deepened the understanding of the needs, challenges, and perspectives of patients and claimants navigating the rehabilitation and recovery process.
Since June 2015, Margarita has run her own independent practice as a full-time Medical Interpreter (Brockhaus Interpreting). Drawing on her cumulative experience, she provides highly skilled interpretation services for doctors, dentists, ER nurses, hospital administrators, nurse union representatives, Workman’s Compensation professionals, unions, insurance companies, social workers, lawyers, and — most importantly — the Spanish-speaking patients and claimants at the center of these interactions. Her ability to bridge communication gaps between all parties has been honed through decades of hands-on involvement in nearly every aspect of the healthcare ecosystem.
Throughout her distinguished 40+ year career, Margarita Brockhaus has remained deeply committed to accurate, compassionate, and culturally sensitive communication. Her unique combination of clinical knowledge, administrative expertise, billing experience, and interpreting skill allows her to serve as a trusted bridge for Spanish-speaking individuals and the full range of professionals who support their health and well-being across the San Francisco Bay Area Northern California.
